Argh! I thought minis were all supposed to be own root and repeat bloomers... Well, my mini after I spent a bunch of time feeding and nourishing looks fantastic but NO BLOOMS. Ugh! don't tell me that it is a once bloomer... It definitely is not! Dr. Huey. It has a completely different hue and has reverse petals. But darn it, I see no bud formations whatsoever and it's been nearly 2 mos... Is there such thing as a once-bloomer mini? or is this some kind of rootstock over-taker. Again for any who do not know its history, this was a stray abandoned rose I found on my property.

Are you sure it is a mini and not just a small rose? As far as I know minis are on own root. I just did a advanced search on HMF and yes there are minis that are once bloomers. You may want to look and see if any match your rose.

There also was a time several years ago where J&P and a few others were selling some of their minis budded to an understock. I don't know what they were using, but it was to produce more impressive plants for the nurseries to sell to the public. I currently have my one and only mini sport budded on multiflora since it gave me a better chance to keep the sport alive.

I received Fairy Moss in my order from Nor'East last week, and it appears to be budded. Weird.

I bud some minis on fortuniana for fun. I know cool roses does this thought it would be fun to try but really is more of a pain than anything else imo, unless I am doing standards. None of my roses with the exception of seq. ballet possibly were all own root ?

| ugh, again. I can't believe HMF is limiting my search for once-bloomers miniatures... It won't allow me to search any criteria except for one!!!! I can only choose either once-bloomer or small or petal count, but not more than one of these criteria can be selected which make a total of 172 to look for... how frustrating... Yes, my miniature rose is definitely a mini, the blooms are sooo tiny! but they have 20 min. to 26 max. petals max (usually its closer to 24-26)....this is definitely not just a small rose...it's a mini to the tee... Here are the pics again... Help!!! looking4toexist... You have the most prolific miniature collection that I know of.. does this look anything familiar to you?

My Fairy Moss from Nor'East looks budded, too. Kinda ugly, but we'll see how it goes.

sigh, I'm jealous Lucretia1 and Hartwood! even though Fairy Moss has as you describe that "kinda ugly budded look", at least your Fairy Moss is a continual bloomer and not a one-time bloomer...

I started two different mins this season Mini one was planted three weeks weeks prior to mini two ( ones peach colored and two is yellow ) the reason why I got the second one ( yellow ) was the rapid growth of the first one I planted the yelow one ( #2) 12 feet away from the peach one The yellow one (#2) has yet to catch up to the same size of the peach one was at two weeks and the time of planting of the yellow one has been a total of 10 weeks and the peach one is at 13 weeks of planting Today I cleaned up the leaf problems of the peach one and hand airated the soil which is very dark ( nitrogen rich ) I continued the hand airation and removing dropped leafs ect... and came to the yellow one which is still small btu growing and is flowering and the fertilizing method is the same however the soil was not as dark as the soil of the peach one leading me to the possibility that Minis are very much Nitrogen lovers and a meer 12 feet away this particular garden has some noticable changes in soil My next course of action is to compost tea water the yellow one to get the soil darker with the addition of 3 16 oz cups of compost tea daily and hand airate once a week this one mini and the goal is to get as much growth out of it as as possible by the end of the season and yes it hasnt realy rebloomed at all and I cant help but think it has to be the soil that needs to be worked to get the yellow one to at least look like it will rebloom
