need info!

I have about 20 miniature roses on my front porch. Some of them are in hanging buckets on my banisters and some are just sitting on the cement floor. Now, my question is: I live in the upstate of SC in zone 7. What do I need to do with my roses when winter comes? Can I just leave them in their pots and leave them alone till spring like I do the roses in the yard? I really need all the advice you guys can give. Thanks so much. Joe

Joe, you're techinally in a different zone than I am, I'm in 7a up here, but what I did last year (late November) was to dig holes in my half empty vegetable plot and plop the pots into the ground for the winter, and placed some shredded pine bark mulch around the canes. I also drug some of my potted roses into an unheated, dark garage and they did splendidly too. Something like that might work for your hanging baskets.

Miniature roses are generally grown on their own roots and are more winter hardy than full sized roses despite their delicate appearance.

I would think they'd be totally fine in your zones although I'm in a zone warmer.
