Watering Sweet Diana

I'm having trouble deciding how much water my new minis (Sweet Diana) need in our hot, hot, hot Kansas sun. Because of their smaller root systems, they need more frequent watering than larger roses (or so I was told) and because they were new (planted about a month ago), I've kept them fairly well-watered. Now they are putting out new growth and developing a couple new buds, but the older leaves are looking a little bit "fried" in our 90+ weather--which shows no signs of letting up any time soon. I find myself wanting to give them a small cool drink every day--but now I'm starting to worry that I may be overwatering them. How often do mini-rose growers water their babies in weather with sustained hot temps?

Thanks for any input you can give.

Kate
