can't figure out what's wrong with my minis

I have three miniature rose plants, all bought at the supermarket. I bought them four days ago. When I bought them, all three minis were in beautiful condition. And since they were bought in Shop Rite, I think we can assume that none of them had received any sunlight for awhile. Currently, one plant is in very good health.
Another is starting to decline. At the bottom of the plant (near the soil) the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. However, all the buds and blooming flowers appear to be fine.
The third is a disaster. Most of the leaves are gone and the flowers that have begun to bloom are dry. There are a few buds that haven't opened that seem ok and the stems are all still green and.. not dry... so I'm hopeful that I can salvage this one too.
However, I've been treating all of the plants in the same way. The soil was moist, so I didn't water them until yesterday. They've all gotten the same amount of sunlight, so I don't see why one would be fine and the others would start to die. Any suggestions? Honestly, for $3.99 each I could probably just replace the two that are declining, but I'd really like to save these. |

Are the plants indise or outside? They were brought directly from a greenhouse to ShopRite. If you placed them outside right away, then they are burning. They have to be "hardened off" before exposing to direct sunlight by gradually moving them into sun (maybe an hour or so a day, increasing over a week or two). How much are you watering them? You might want to take a look at How to save a potted gift rose, it givex excellent instructions on saving these plants. Also, roses are really outdoor plants, you don't say whether you plan to keep them indoors or outdoors.

The same kind of things happened to my mini's from the grocery store- all the leaves falling off. After I separated and planted them according to the link "how to save a potted gift rose" mentioned above, they grew back all their leaves and are very happy now! I definately recommend using this link!

to clarify, i would like to keep them indoors. I did not have the plants in direct sunlight; my room is rather shady, they got some light but certainly not enough to burn them. As for watering, I didnt not water them until about 3 days after I bought them because the soil felt moist. Unfortunately, by that time they were starting to decline.

In April I received a mini rose from a friend and I tried to keep it in the house for my enjoyment. However, no amount of watering carefully, full light or not kept it from declining. It started to get yellow leaves and dry up. Towards the midddle of May I took it and planted it in a big pot on my patio with some violets and gave it some rose food. It is now Aug. and my yellow rose is beautiful. It has been blooming almost since the time I planted it outdoors. I planted it on the east side of the house so it gets full sun in the morning and shade later in the afternoon and evening. Now I just need to figure out how to keep it over the cold months.
