Planting and wintering mini roses

Posted by lovetogarden_2006 CT (My Page) on

This is my first year with mini roses and I have many that are flourishing in containers on my deck. I am wondering about planting them in the ground at this time or should I wait until next spring. If I should wait, I am wondering about a place to store them for the winter, as I do not have an unheated garage. Thank you in advance for your assistance, I would hate to lose these little beauties (some not so little), now that the mini rose bug has biten me.

One suggestion I've seen for overwintering other plants that are in pots is to dig a hole and sink the pot into the ground. Seems better than trying to bring them inside.

Do you have an external stairway to your basement?

Thanks to both for responding. I do have an open external stairway to my basement. Is that an option? Thank you.
