I'm not an expert, I very seldom do things the right way the first time... LOL. I'm not even sure if this will help you or not but... I picked up three potted miniatures roses for $10. a couple of months back... The were covered with blooms when I brought them home but I over watered and the buds & leaves started falling off... It was almost a week after that I actually did something... All the blooms and buds were gone and so were most of the leaves...

I planted them outside... One of them looked like it was too far gone so I stuck it way in the back and it never recovered.... I have a three foot section for the other ones... I planted the best looking one in the middle, split the other into two plants and left them alone... I didn't do a thing but water the ground around them when it was dry.... And about 3 weeks later....

They are the healthiest plants I have in my gardens... LOL. The one in the middle has two of the darkest red roses I have ever seen, with more to come and the two on either side are beginning to bud... ( can't wait to see what they are... lol )

I've had between 1-2 dozen minis for about 10 years now, and as a rule, deadheading is about all the pruning I do.

They don't really need to be cut back the way their big cousins do unless you are looking for a formal shape or having disease issues.
