Name your mini work horses

Someone made a great request on the general Rose Forum, "Name your work horses." Which miniature roses and mini-flora have been the top producers/performers in your garden?

Mine include Hot Tamale, Salute, Lady Bren, Denver's Dream (for its blooms despite staying short in height it's first season), Mother Lode, Autumn Splendor, and Glowing Amber.

My top producers are my older, more mature bushes: Baby Boomer, Hilde, Erin Alonso, Soroptomist International, Memphis Queen, Bees Knees, Gizmo, Autumn Splendor, and Conundrum. Next year I expect to hopefully add Hot Tamale, Irresistible, and Jean Kenneally to this list.

Sorry, that's supposed to be the possessive "its" in my original post, not the contraction "it's".

Your mini work horses? (Thinking about next year already.)

    Jmac,
I see potential in these rose bushes as they establish or is this wishful thinking?

    Hi kentucky rose,

I would not be surprised if Hot Tamale, Irresistible, and Jean Kenneally are on your work horse list next year. I've read many postive comments about these three. I don't have Irresistible or Jean Kenneally, but my Hot Tamale has been one of the most blackspot-resistant and problem-free minis in the garden. It grew more than the others and put forth the most blooms.

'Hot Tamale' and 'Irresistible are on my best list too. They are definitely blooming machines in my climate. 'Behold', 'Baby Boomer', 'Luis Desemero', and 'Mountie' (A Canadian bred Miniature) seem to be always in bloom as well.

'Edisto', I purchased it as a band mid summer and it has been blooming in great flushes ever since. Even now it is covered in buds getting ready to open for a great fall flush in spite of being repotted just about a month ago.

I have 'Mobile Jubilee' as well, although not blooming right now it is very healthy.

My mini work horses would include for the whole season Twilight Skies, Buttermint, Angel Darling, Cal Poly, Ultimate Pleasure, Always A Lady, late season would add Yantai and Irresistible. Mini Climbers would have to include Hi Ho, Orchid Jubilee, Work Of Art and Pennies From Heaven.

Impressive one year finish for Grace Seward, Adam's Smile, Dancing Flame and very impressed with 7 month growth of Edisto, Kay Denise and Leslie .

Good to see this thread...can't wait to look them all up! Jmac, I had Denver's Dream, but lost it over the winter. It looks great on HMF. Is it as orangey as it looks in pictures? How short did it stay? (I don't get to enjoy blooms until the plant is more than a foot tall, because my cat eats any bloom he can reach).
We have two second year minis that bloomed their heads off this year. Incognito had 20-50 blossoms at any given time, and is about 2 feet tall. Harm Saville is a more spreading bush, constantly in bloom, disease free beautiful plant.

Both are very heat tolerant and cold hardy.

lilgfreenfrog, Denver's dream can be as orangey as it looks in HMF photos. It also has a beautiful blood orange color, especially in the early phase. DD produced many blooms this year, but did not grow very tall. Just measured it at 8.5". I'm hoping next year brings more vertical growth. Good to read about Harm Saville, which I planted late in the season.

I don't have 40 or 50 minis, mini-floras, but I am VERY picky about which ones I do keep. If it doesn't produce lots of good blooms on a good bush by it's 3rd year, it's gone. Most of my heavy work horses are some of the older ones. Kristin, Pierrine, Sweet Melody, Fairhope, Soroptimist International,(some newer releases)Chattooga, Bee's Knees and a variety not on the market any more, Lavender Sweetheart. Most mini-floras have done great for me. Tiffany Lynn and Whirlaway have been my best. But Chacet, Abby's Angel, Reginna Lee, Shannedoah, Louisville Lady, Butter Cream, Leading Lady, Foolish Pleasure, all are great roses for me.

All these responses are very helpful/enlightening. Keep them coming! They give a better view on the possibilities for next year.

Let me belatedly add Sweet Diana--lovely yellow, about 2 ft tall, very disease-resistant. I have 7--so you can see how much I like it.
