Sport of Hot Tamale?

Hello!

My Hot Tamale is new this year, own root. It didn't do a whole lot this season - just a couple of blooms in June and then nothing much. It also got black spot and completely defoliated in August/Sept, but then put in some new leaves. In September I took it out of its pot on the sunny patio and planted it in a full sun bed.

Earlier this month it bloomed - pink! Could it be a sport, or is it more likely the colour difference is due to stress? Below is a pic of a bloom in June followed by one from this month.

It could be either. Keep an eye on the stem. See the photos at the link below. Hot Tamale's coloring can vary depending on weather.

My Hot Tamale had both pale and dark blooms this season too. I think it has a lot to do with the weather.

Weather has a lot to do with the blooms. In the Fall you see the most intense colors in the blooms. I also see some different colored blooms on the same bush. This is called a Sport. If it continues to show up make a cutting of it and if it grows and blooms see if it is different. It could be put on the Market

I've tried this on a few plants and it didn't work

What I have here is Memphis Magic in the background and a sport in the front. The Sport was not stable!!! Too bad!!!
