mini rose

I have a mini rose bush that I place in a pitcher of water. I do not like dirt in the house. The leaves are turning yellow and it is going into winter here in MI. Is this what happens to roses in colder months?

The rose is getting too much water. Roses do not like to have their roots sit in water. They prefer well drained soil. The leaves turning yellow is a symptom of over watering. If you keep it in the vase it will eventually die. Pot it in soil or plant it out in the garden and it will have a better chance of surviving.
