This one bloomed in Spring, before Sarah Bernhardt peony. Got attacked by rose slugs early on. Looks like wants to grow long canes. I found it growing under large azalea bushes. Flowered for the first time in 2013, 3 years since I 'found' it. But it could be because the rose slugs were eating everything before I got wiser last year, thanks to this forum. Probably two and half inch diameter red flowers. New leaves are red. I am going to attach a few pictures in the next couple of posts. Hope you guys can identify it.

This photo shows a cane. The damage is from rose slugs.

It looks like the root stock rose, Dr. Huey. It only blooms once in the spring and then just GROWS the rest of the year.

RE: ID please: red rose

Does look pretty when blooming though, but I guess nothing to save.
