Old rose ID

This has been growing on my parents property line through a stone wall for at least 40 years. It suckers. I think it's fragrant, can't remember.

Altorama, take a look at Hansa. It sure looks like it to me.

Hi Seil, I have Hansa, so I know it's not her, but I had not considered that it could be a Rugosa, I was sort of stuck on it being a Gallica. But it's worth a shot to check out some of the Rugosa's, I'll have a look at Suzanne Verrier's Rugosa book tonight.

Alida, I also think the foliage looks like a Gallica, although I understand why seil thought it could be Hansa from the bloom.

If you look under "gallica" on HelpMeFind there are several in that color range and you may find a match.

Also, the Antique Roses forum has some folks that may help ID your pretty rose.

Its a Gallica of some sort, but I can't say I recognize it as a specific variety. I would almost say 'Officinalis' but its a bit too "ruffley" for that.

Thanks Paul, sometimes I think it looks like 'Agathe'...and sometimes not. Hopefully I can get more pictures this year.
