Name That Rose!

Mystery White Climber--Banksian????

Can you help? These photos are of a climber that was a stub when I moved into this house three years ago. This is the first time it has has bloomed. I wondered if it's a White Lady Banks, but the blooms are not clustered and there is no appreciable odor? It is growing in semi-shade, in zone 7b. The flowers are nearly carnation like, approx. 1 1/2-2 inches. Canes are flexible and almost thornless.

Definitely not a lady banks. Blooms are too large and not clustered. Pretty though.

The foliage is quite distinct, and yes, you are right about the R. banksiae connection; this is 'Fortuniana' commonly used as an understock in southern areas where soil nematodes are a problem. (It is nearly thornless as well, right?) It is believed to be R. banksiae X R. laevigata. An interesting rose in its own right, so don't throw it out. Spring blooming only, mind you.
