The color is similar to the Thomas Affleck rose which is a shrub. Is this a shrub or climing rose. Does it have semi blooms or doubles?

This rose is neither a shrub nor a climber, but it resembles my Hybrid Tea roses. It sports one bloom at the end of each stem, and does not give an indication that it will produce doubles. The blooms are 3.5" - 4.5" when fully open. It also looks to only have around 10 - 14 petals. Gram says it looks exactly like she remembers, so I believe this to be a good example of the bloom and leaves.

Yes, how big does it get? Does it have thorns/prickles? Does it bloom once a year or periodically thru summer? Does it die back over the winter?...to the ground, or do the canes remain hardy and survive from year to year?

Thank you! I think it is pretty also, but wait till I get the first bloom from my Grandpa's Rose... we don't know the name of it either, and it is deep red. Back to this rose... The original location of the rose was under the dining room window (next to Grandpa's Rose)and I don't recall it over 4 feet high and 3 feet wide ever, but Gram was attentive in her younger years. It has thorns on the larger stems and prickles on the thinner ones closer to the blooms. I remember blooms from it in a deep brandy glass, on the dining room table all year long. Gram had the joint slightly under the dirt as Iowa has some harsh winters that seem to last forever. I know that when she pruned it in the spring there were still canes that were green and already starting to bud out.

Maybe Red Radiance the deep pink sport of Radiance?

Another suggestion of Charlotte Armstrong had me settled that we had the right rose, but I have researched the Red Radiance and believe that Gram's rose is one in the same. Even the folliage looks more like Grams... CA has a more mauve color and Grams is vibrant pink... not mauve at all. Thanks again for all your help.
