My great aunt's rose

She shared it with me - we just dug up a little sprout that was growing next to the bigger plant and I set it out in my yard. It's been growing and blooming quite happily there for several years. I'm pretty sure she acquired it in much the same way I did, from a friend a long time ago. Can you tell me what kind of rose it is? LOL I'd love to know.

OH, btw, it's a climber (rambler??) type, it's threatening to take over that section of yard even though I had it on a trellis until, well, that's another story. *giggle*

I'm curious, does it bloom all summer or just in spring? Does it bloom in clusters?
It looks an awful lot like a rose that was on my neighbors fence when I was a child..and I'm nearly 60... It's not the same as another poster's rose that "just popped up" that you responded to. Her's has more petals and isn't as cupped as yours...

It blooms all summer. It has blooms all over the plant, short stems, lots of blooms, if that's what you mean by clusters. It has an amazing, strong fragrance.

It looks like Reine Victoria or Duchesse de Brabant, except these two roses are not climbers. RV has about the same number of petals--it looks like from your picture--while DdB has fewer petals.
