or the old man himself? My found rose finally bloomed this year. I was delighted to discover it was freckled (or starred if you like). Three years ago I took cuttings from a thicket of roses alongside train tracks in a nearby town. It is blooming along with my Apothecary's and Rosa Mundi. The scent is not as strong as the other two, but greener to my nose- almost like rose soap. The bloom is also slightly smaller and fades as it ages. I've got more photos I'll try to post of a bud and growth. Thanks!!
