I thought maybe it was Guinee, then Crimson Glory

...but I don't really know what it is called. I asked here once before and someone suggested 'Mr. Lincoln' but it doesn't look like all the Mr. Lincoln's I've seen at the nursery outlets. It appears to be one of the all time greats to me (along the lines of 'Peace'). I feel that if I were a true and proper rosarian that this variety should be immediately recognizable. It's strongly fragrant and makes the best rose petal tea I've ever had. I crossed 'Knockout' with it and it has the most absolutely hugest hip on it that I've ever seen....I'm really hoping to get some neat crosses from it.

It's very hard to tell at this point. Don't feel bad - there are so many red roses with similar blooms that no Rosarian could peg it based on this much, either.

The strong fragrance is a key. There are very few reds with exhibition form and also fragrance. If I had to guess, the flower stem looks way too strong to be Crimson Glory. Do you ever have any clustering? That would have to go along with Crimson Glory and also nodding blooms.

It's quite possible that it could be Mister Lincoln - normally he's darker in bloom, but reds are difficult for cameras to catch properly. Plus, differing sun conditions can have an effect. I wouldn't dismiss the notion entirely that it's Mister Lincoln. What does the bush look like? That's the telltale for Lincoln.
