mystery pink antique

This is probably hopeless, as there are so many pink roses of this type out there. I initially thought it might be Gloire de France, but I now have that rose and it isn't. I found it on the side of the road and pried up a sucker the summer before last. It is fairly short, and appears to be a gallica of some sort to my untrained eyes.

No, no moss. Though there is a bit of resin smell when you rub the buds... I get that on some of my other Gallicas also.

Is this Swan Road? I keep waiting to see if it gets any taller. The height alone would make you think it is a Gallica. I always thought it was short becasue it got mowed. Nice pictures..

yup, it's the swan road rose. This is the one that was pried up from where you found it. I also have another taken from a different location on swan road that I think is the same. That other rose was also low growing, though (grin) taller than the one that gets mowed.

I've wondered how tall it would get also. Not really big enough yet. The flowers are huge for such a tiny plant.

Any ideas?

You must have gotten a piece of the one on the bank? I have some of that one too. So far I have seen it get to maybe 2 1/2 ft. I compared the flower to all of my Gallicas and got no match. I have Anne's book of Gallicas-the Joyeaux. I should look in there...oh Friday Creek is blooming finally-got no blooms last year. Too bad you are not here to photograph that one.
