| I know that guess-the-red-Austin isn't an easy one, but I thought it might be fun for everyone to get a piece of this mystery. It's a bodybag rose bought from a box store, obviously an Austin that was renamed "Silent Dreams" by the nursery. My best guess so far is Fisherman's Friend. What do you think?
And, thanks! Stefan |

| Check the scent, Fishermans Friend smells of cloves like a rugosa. It does look like FF to me. Lance |

| The clove scent was a no-go. Only old rose in this bloom. I did notice that Othello has the same parentage, but it might take more maturing before I can really tell more. These first blooms can be deceptive :) Thank you for your help, I'm sort of crossing my fingers that it's Fisherman's Friend and not Othello! |

| It could be an Austin, but it could also be a Romantica, like Rouge Royale. The blooms on that one can have looser or tighter form, depending on weather or other factors, and it has nice big shiny foliage like your rose. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Rouge Royale (Caruso)
