possible hot cocoa

I have a rose the previous owner planted in my yard that I'm trying to ID. It's not any older than 2004, as the house is pretty new. The blossoms look exactly like pictures I've seen of Hot Cocoa - that brick red/terra cotta color. My bush has serious thorns on it of all sizes, all over the canes, and shiny dark green leaves. The bush is about 3 feet tall. Does that sound about right to anyone?

Definitely sounds like it. The color is quite distinctive and the leaves are really shiny and medium (?) green.

My leaves actually vary from a more olive green for newer ones (once they start losing the red) to a medium/darkish green for the older ones. Definitely glossy. I couldn't find any other rose pics anywhere that looked like my color - Hot Cocoa was the only one. Thanks!

It sounds like Hot Cocoa. The only other two I can think of with that coloration are Rusty and Hot Chocolate. You can check out their pictures at Help Me Find.

Thanks for the other ideas. I looked at the photos on Help Me Find, and I think the buds are wrong for Rusty and Hot Chocolate. It's really looking like Hot Cocoa.

HC has super glossy leaves and lots of thorns.
