Hi Damask: That is absolutely gorgeous blue color. I love that !! My husband planted morning glory on a trellis, and it was a real pain to take the vines off, after frost came. Morning glory is very messy & agressive, they would tangle up with rose's branches, and one would get poked easily.

For blue color I prefer short annuals, or purple alyssum, mingle with white alyssum. They spread, so doesn't cost much. Below is the link of Dave & Deb garden in HMF. They planted white alyssum as a carpet between roses, look very nice:

Some zones Morning Glories are inclined to cause more troubles.
I let Morning Glories climb up through our Dogwood Bushes and Viburnum bush...

But I keep them away from our roses...lol
Once you plant Morning Glories they just keep coming back whether you want them to or not...
I've planted MG then changed my mind twice and those things are still coming up after 12 years in those locations so gotta keep pulling them out year after year...

So be careful...lol
I would go with other flowers that do not invade the roses...
