I'm planning to place an order with "Gardens Alive" for green lacewings and encapsulated earthworm cocoons. This will be my first order with the company, but I've read positive comments about it on GW in the past.

You're actually much better off buying green lacewing larvae than any other life stage, even though they're more expensive. A study by Mike Raupp and a grad student, I believe, showed that the eggs get carried off by ants and other predators.
The vast majority of growers to whom I speak have had little success with thrips predators.
