Black tips after rain

It rained pretty good here yesterday and last night. When I checked my climbing roses this morning, some leafs had dark black tips almost covering a quarter of each leaf. Do they really react so instantly to wet weather?

I know for the future I will choose disease resistant plants, but those I got where already at the house and the other two I had bought before I had the list. I forgot the names, but when I checked against the list they were not on there. :-(

I went ahead and sprayed them right away with the modified Cornell formula. Which leaves another question. I mixed it about 4 weeks ago (for the oil I used Canola). I had it sitting in the (warm) garage. Can that stuff go bad?

I envy my neighbor. She has 2 beautiful large blooming climbers on her house and when I asked her if and how often she has to spray she said: They are on their own. I don't spray them at all.
