manure mistake?

Newbie here and I'm wondering if I made a mistake that needs to be fixed. I just got some aged horse manure from a friend. Applied it around my roses about 1 inch thick. Now I'm concerned it isn't aged enough and it's going to hurt them. How aged is well aged manure? It was ground pretty fine by the horses hooves so small particles. Didn't have a strong smell but still did smell a bit, and it still had some clumps that were identifiable. Should I go back and remove it from around the roses and compost it longer? Or is what I did ok?

If it was walked on by the horses and most of it was ground into small particles it's aged plenty. Even identifiable clumps won't hurt your roses If they're dry. Now if they were moist, warm, steaming dumplings you might have a problem. Ya know, lots of people really like the smell of horses... Cheryl

One suggestion that was given to me when I used manure around roses was to really soak the area well. This kind of makes sure the uric acid in the manure doesn't hurt the rose.
