Yes, you can use alfalfa on your roses. I use the alfalfa meal 1 cup per plant (2 for larger plants) a coupld of times a year. I also use fertilizers that contain alfalfa.

Has anyone used Cocoa Mulch for their roses and what is their experience? Where do you get it?

I tried Cocoa Mulcha, and didn't like it. When it got wet, it formed a clumping mass that trapped too much moisture. I also didn't like the cocoa scent mixing with the rose scent. I had bought it at the local Agway, but they don't sell it anymore.

For organic fertilizers, I like Mills Magic Mix, which is rich in alfalfa, and Rose Tone, which also has some alfalfa in it.

I'm starting to use Neptune's Harvest products for a water soluble fish/ seaweed product.

I'm also going to try Dr. Earth rose food this year, and Monty's Joy Juice.
