holes in leaves

I have a climbing rose and it is being eaten...thing is, I never see any bugs on it. Is there an organic solution to this problem before I buy a pesticide. I do not know what the plant is called. I can only describe it as a yellow climbing rose shrub. I live in zone 5 and I bought it in Home Depot. Help.

Thank you

RE: holes in leaves

If it's caterpillars, a simple Bt spray (Bacillus thuringiensis, ask for it at a nursery) will stop it. For a a more proper and more certain appliclation, though, you'll need to go out at night with a flashlight and identify the culprit.
