Copper sprays are somewhat effective, but you still need to wear proper protection for spraying anything.

It may be worth trying an antitranspirant like Wilt-Pruf.

Sulfur is not effective. Paula sfbay says copper is very effective, but it is more hazardous than other fungal controls considered organic. Anthracnose is not as damaging as black spot, so maybe your roses can tolerate ituntil theweather changes. As Henry suggests, a 3-4% solution of Wilt-Pruf might be worth trying.

A newbie here. What is Wilt-Pruf? And where do you get it?

Wilt-Pruf, Cloud Cover, Vapor Gard etc. are sold as antitranspirant sprays. They put a slick coating on the leaf. You can buy ready-to-use or concentrate at a good garden store or online. It is a water emulsion of a resin-like material usually derived from pine sap.

I just noticed anthracnose on my newly planted bareroot floribundas and HTs. I thought it was blackspot and then maybe a phosphate defficiency from pics on the web. but realized it was anthracnose because of the mention of the tiny red dots that are the fist sign. I am trying out the baking soda spray that is recomended for other fungus before i use any chemicals(I hate the idea of killing all those wonderfull microrginisms in the siol with pestiticides.
The recipie I am using is 2tbls each baking soda vegetable oil and dishsoap in one gallon water. though from further research it makes sense to use safersaop instead of dishsoap and fine hoticultural oil instead of cooking oil. but for that i will actualy have to go and hunt down the ingredients. good luck!
