Tea Leaves for Roses?

I work in a restaurant where we brew 2-3 huge pots of tea everyday and throw away at least 12 cups of tea leaves every night. Can I use them in my roses?

Yes. They will give some nitrogen boost, and the earthworms will love it. If you can get the coffee ground, then use it too.

Thanks for your reply and advice roseleaf. A few more questions if u don't mind. How much can i use per rose bush...2-3 cups? Should I mix it with the topsoil or should I just put them on top of the soil and let it decompose there? Thanks again.

Maria, since the tea leaves had been dried and then soaked in boiling water, they compose very quickly once put on soil surface. No need to mix them with the soil. I would do like a top dressing, by spreading them thin (~1") above the soil surface around the base of rose bushes; use many cups as you like to cover the area. Also when you have a large worm population, there will be not much left after a week or so.

OMG roseleaf...you were VERY RIGHT!!! I did put them on the top soil, like 3-4 cups per rose bush. I am having basal sprouts now like it was spring. They just "LOVE" it.
