Bananas peels left greasy mess in my mixer!

I used a large kitchen mixer to mulch the bananas, then poured them into a container. Both were left with an impossible to remove greasy coating.
I even tried to clean the blade with rubbing alcohol (what can I say--it was handy) thinking this would remove it.
No luck...
Has anyone else experienced this?
Do organic bananas have this coating too?
Well, I'm none to eager to try THAT again, but I'll wait for some of your ideas.
Thanks,

The little coating on the blade is non toxic, and won’t hurt anything, and will be worn off with continuous use of slicing other veggies. If you really want to clean it, try to rub it off with a paper tissue soaked in kerosene/gasoline to see if it helps. Wear rubber gloves. All banana peels have a mucus substance like liquid gel in them; the mucus is more notable at the stem end. It’s not the coating sprayed on externally to the fruit. BTW, don’t ever let this gel get on your clothing. No detergent that I know of will remove the stain.

i generally don't bother grinding, etc, but plant the entire banana peel about at the drip line of the rose -- or i'll divide up the peel strips among a couple roses -- they do well so i guess it works like this :) perhaps you might want to consider picking up a blender for garden stuff at a garage sale or such -- seems to me they are very common and cheap that way :)

I just 'close' mine then lay it out and chop crosswise into 1/2" wide by 1-2" slices or short ribbons. Then I throw them into a lidded container with my coffee grounds and mix (shaken, not stirred). Much easier to clean my Henkel and cutting board than a blender or processor blade. The peel bits turn black and break down more quickly than being left whole too.

Try putting some hot water in the mixer, then a little dishwash liquid. Then put it on the stand & turn it on full bore. Don't fill it all the way with water! This is how I clean my blender. |

I'm a little late, but I'm with Cormac. Just plant the peels whole (1 strip at a time) at the drip line, and occasionally throw a soggy brown one into a hole in the garden.
