dog urine hurt roses?

Just wondering if the brown leaves I just found on one of my new roses were caused by the dog urine I washed off of them yesterday. I have a large Lab and he likes to mark everything. Do I need to fence off the roses?

Dog urine can kill foliage.

Well it didn't completely kill the leaves, but sure made some awful brown spots on them. So does everyone who has dogs and roses keep them apart from each other?

I consider some losses to the roses/garden part of the beauty. If it isn't really "killing" the plant, I usually let go. That goes for almost anything, including my Big Black Dogs' bad habits. At leaset they are going outside! I have asked them, clearly, to go "Out!, No!" if I ever catch 'em and never encourage 'em and it never seems to be too bad. If it is killing...then the pet shop has a Keep Away product that can help with the "NO" leasons. It is good for cats too. Dogs are great!

Thanks, that's encouraging. I like the way you think. I know he doesn't do it everyday, but I'll do like you said and discourage it when I see it. What is the name of the stuff that keeps dogs and cats away? Can it be used around organically grown veggies?
