Rugosa Shrubs

I trimmed my shrubs at the beginning of the summer...thought I was deadheading them and they never bloomed after that. What now? I had to trim them down the other day because they were too tall in front of my porch. Will they bloom again in the spring and how do I avoid cutting the wrong parts off again? Thanks!

RE: Rugosa Shrubs

You didn't cut off the wrong parts. They didn't repeat for some other reason, such as lack of water. Some rugosas are not strong repeaters anyway, but may improve with maturity. They will surely bloom next spring.
