for the full rig, I just bought the refill gel pack because I'm too cheap (so it might have worked if I had bought the whole thing).
I found that roses did NOT work. The illustration for the gel packs shows coleus, which are not woody. Perhaps if you used non-woody (green shoots) you'd have better luck, but all of mine rotted.
So if you do it get the whole thing, don't water, and be extra careful with sterility because I found fungi and nasty stuff likes to eat the gel too.

Thanks, that is what I was worried about, I saw a few places on the net where they were discussed and it always said soft wood cuttings so I was a little concerned they wouldn't work well for roses.
