Can I take cuttings from my dormant roses and start rooting them in the house?

Thanks

RE: rootintg dormant rose cuttings

I see you are in zone 3-5 so what I say may not hold true in your zone right now, you may have to wait another month or two. I am in zone 8. This morning 1-20-2010 I took rose cuttings and stuck them in pots they will be left outside; they can also be stuck directly in the ground and they will root. I did this last year in winter for the first time at the suggestion of a very knowledgeable friend and had a very high sucess rate.

I had resisted it for years and always tried to root roses in the spring and summer no more. Winter is when I will be rooting roses from now on. I should have already done this, he suggests between Dec.25 and New Year for my zone.

good luck
