Is each seedling unique?

This is probably a dumb question, but I figure the dumbest questions are the ones never asked. Is each rose seedling unique? I know about growing them and breeding them, but didnt know if each seedling is one of a kind or what. Hoping someone can explain this or send a link that does. Thanks to all in advance.

This is not a dumb question. If you never grew roses from seeds you may not know. Before I started hybridizing in 1969 I thought that those coming from the same hip are all identical.

Each seedling is unique. Even those from the same cross, same parents I mean, and from the same hip. You may get lots of the same colour but there are always many different characteristics.
Check out some of the "Rose Info" on my web-site and you will see what I mean.

Here is a link that might be useful: Roses of Excellence
