Mexican Wild Rose, what is it?

My neighbor mentioned her son has a flower she said was mexican wild rose, that it spreads, like daylilies returning more each year. Is there such a thing as "spreading" roses? Just curious and if anyone has a picture they could post. Thanks everybody!

Possibly Mexican Evening Primrose? It's an agressive spreader in genus Oenothera. It is not a real rose.

Here is a link that might be useful: picture and info on M.E.Primrose
