The First Cutting Has Peeked up from the ground.

We planted several cuttings when we pruned our dormant roses. We buried them vertically, completely covered with a stake as a marker. We watered them once a week.

Yesterday I was surprised to see this:

I found one other peeking up in another area of our property, and it's from a different rose, so we now have two free roses!

I LOVE propagating when it actually works!!

Thanks! I'm loving today!

We took a short tour of the house we moved from on Friday, and were astounded at the beauty of the roses. We are going back to take cuttings of some we missed while we still own the property.

Who knew it would be so easy to propagate a rose? Figs are the same. Bury cuttings, water now and then, and they will grow.

Congratulations, Suzi! Sometimes, it CAN be that easy. If you stop to consider that is pretty much what they do every year to root the stocks for the budded roses you buy, you realize it can't be all THAT difficult. You just have to learn the technique required for what you're trying to root and where you are. Once you hit on the right combination, it can be quite easy. Have fun! Kim
