rose hip from Herritage

My David A Herritage never set hip before, but yesterday I found some hip on it. What does that mean?

I have found that the younger plants don't set seed as well as an established rose. Perhaps your Heritage is now well established in its location.

thanks Hoovb, for the imfo. I thought only certain rose set hip. My mr Lincoln set hips all the time.
