Dumb Question about rose seed

I have one seed from my Graham Thomas Rose. I got the hip from the bush a couple of days ago. Will this seed be viable?

RE: Dumb Question about rose seed

The rose hip needs to be opened up to the "seeds" that are inside... in my expirience they do best when planted fresh before it gets really cold, on top of the dirt, and for some reason they crack open and grow during that time. Which is weird since the parent plant is asleep but the seeds are alive and growing in the bitter cold (20-30 here in California).

Hope this helps???
