After my non-luck growing florist roses, I am truly not excited to see leaf growth. All of my attempts yielded leaves. Never did get any roots to grow. I hope your luck is better than mine, and if you come up with a method that yields roots, please post back and let me know what you did!

I just posted here about my success rooting a florist rose. I think if you are really interested you cut them back from the bottom to a more reasonable length and stick em in soil/perlite or the coir folks swear by here, cover with plastic to make a little greenhouse, and give it bright light but no direct sun because they'll cook. Then wait. And wait. And wait!!

I have pretty good luck with rooting florist roses by sticking in coir, and placing under florescent lighting. I can usually get roots in under a month. Try this, and if no coir, use a potting soil/perlite mixture.

so glad you asked this! i just had the same thing happen with some roses my dh brought home. i don't have kid/cat safe place to put trays of dirt so i just changed the water to fish tank water hoping that might help. let me know what you try and i'll let you know how mine do. they are still putting out leaves and the stems have turned bright red. years ago i read something about a woman who used to root hers is water with tylenol or something of the sort. never been able to find the article again but it could be worth the try...
