Will a cane root?

My mail orders arrived! They wound up being V for Victory. the one has several nice canes, the second has three nice canes, but they are crossing. My question is should I prune out the cane that is crossing, and could I try to root it like a cutting? It's about 10" long. Thanks everyone for all the help so far!

Shelley, I know this is late but when I pruned my Jeanne Lajoie, I cut a huge cane that's about 10 inches long also and stuck it in a potting soil and it rooted!
