Nicking rose seeds?

Hi,

Has anyone tried nicking the seeds to see if they will germinate any faster? I just nicked a few seeds to see if it helps.

The seeds were stratified in the fridge, then coldframe, and are now indoors in a damp papertowel. A couple of them split and are sprouting in peat pots. I am anxious for the rest of them to quit 'doing nothing'.
