Seedlings flowering yet?

The only 2 seedlings that sprouted for me are still only about 4 inches tall, but one of them is forming a flower bud. Can't wait to see what it looks like. The seed is OP from Catherine Wade.

Would like to see your seedling's flowers too and who the parents are (if you know).

Nope, not yet.

I planted OP seeds from Maid Marion in late January, they germinated like crazy, and each of them is about 3" high so far. No buds yet, though. Rats.

I also planted seeds from Old Blush, Gertrude Jekyll, and Madame Gregoire Staechlin. Two seedlings from GJ are up and have their first set of leaves -- none the others are sprouted yet.

I've had a few blooms, 2 pinks from my Route 66 seedling X Chicago Peace cross and the rest I have already removed the first buds so I have about another month or so before I get any more buds or blooms on them. This hobby requires alot of patience for sure.

Well the first one has opened, but nothing special. I was hoping for a double, but it's only got maybe 6 or 7 petals. Hard to tell as I can't get a clear pic.

Your seedling looks so healthy and the bloom is very nice. Don't worry about it being a single now, for it might develop more petals the more it matures. I have a three year old seedling that had only 4-5 petals when it first bloomed, now it has about 20 petals.

That's encouraging. I tried another pic away from the shop lights. A lot more clear .

Should I cut off the flower to preserve the energy for the roots, or let it die back naturally ?

Hi!

That is a very nice bloom, I especially like white. I know its hard to do but I would cut the bloom off, then I would mark on your label what date it bloomed and what color it is.

Well I could see it trying to open for the past few days and this morning this is what I have, it looks like it might be a striped and a mini. Though its really hard to tell, it is spotted a little and has alot of white streaks so I will have to wait and see with the next few blooms. The fragrance is very strong too.

Oh, it's quite pretty... and so healthy and vigorous looking. Mine is actually getting some pink shading on the petals. I'll have to post another pic.

Here is the same seedling a wee later, turning pinkish.

Hi there

Your rose has "phototropic characteristics". If you look up Double Delight on HMF you can read a small snippet at the bottom of the page by rose breeder John Sheldon about this. It's a very distinguishing trait in some roses.
