Rice Technique for Cuttings

Posted by lindaincalif (My Page) on

Has anyone heard of making a cut in the bottom of a rose stem and inserting a piece of rice to get it to form roots? My Mom said that is how her Mom used to do it. I have three stems from a boquet that have started sprouting new leaves. I would like to try to get them to grow into bushes. Can anyone give me any advice as to what has worked for them? Thanks!

check my thread below, and check George Mander, he's a member here, and if you search george mander under google his site will come up. that's where I learned to do it, and you can see my results on the threads I've posted, and I've given my own suggestions with do's and don'ts. Rice won't do anything that regular technique won't do, but we'd all be interested if you give it a try and post your results. cheers, Paul Mozarowski.

Linda,
I saw a website about this, too. I'm wondering what success you've had. By now, you should be able to share your results.
