With the rooting hormone... is it possible to dissolve a small amount in some water and feed it into your container?

Also, you may want to cover if your cutting's leaves start to show signs of moisture stress. I've heard stories of translucent storage bins being utilized for rooting cuttings. I guess just flip the bottom part upside down...

My problem has been... several times, when I've realized I needed the humidity action of a cover, it was too late and my little clones dried to a crisp and bit the dust, literally... and on the other hand... I've had success w/o a dome as well...:)

Betty, you did exactly what I would have done. Depending on how much root there is, you don't want the top growth to outgrow the roots, so the topgrowth can be nourished. You may want to cut the top in half ... I'll leave this to your judgement.

Be sure to keep your precious rose in the shade until it has really good roots. The idea is to provide a moist environment so the rose loses as little water as possible, avoiding stress.
