| So this is the first year that I plan to hybridize my roses, and harvest the seedlings. just need some clearing up on a few steps.
1.)Take off the stamen from the pollenator and let them sit in a warm place until pollen is easily coming off.
2.)Remove the anthers from the seed parent and cover with a plastic bag for 24 hours.
3.)Use a paintbrush to dap some pollen into the middle of the seed parent
4.)Wait until the hip is an orange red and take out seeds carefully with a knife.
5.)Put seeds into a folded paper towel that is moist, but not wet.
6.)Once they sprout after about 60 days, plant them 1/2 below the ground...
Thats correct... Right? |

| i'd be careful about the plastic bag step..you could fry your pod parent if it's too hot..i never tried a rose, but for other plants, i was taught to use either cheesecloth or a paper bag..also..still never tried roses..but i'd hedge my bets and plant at least some of the seed directly in a soiless mix..good luck. donna |
