I had written twice in my opening post the term Pod Parent. (meaning the hip I put the pollen into during sexual hybridization) I'm fairly certain that it is referred to as seed parent.

I think you should try to do both, put the pollen from one in the other and vise versa..keep everything labled, that way you can see which has the best results.

I bought a rio samba plant recently, and am interested in learning how to grow roses from seeds. I'm also trying to propagate some various cuttings that I got from the same nursery that sold me the rio samba. My plan is to let nature pollinate my rio samba rose bush, and allow rose hips to form. any advice you can give me on getting the seeds to grow will be much appreciated.

I'd also recommend trying both. The more seeds you get total, the higher the chance one of the offspring will be both pretty and healthy.
