Terminology of propagation sought

I understand the terms "sire" and "dam" to pertain to the parents of an animal, perhaps a race horse or a sheep. "Progeny" refers to the offspring, but is gender-neutral. Is the term "son" or "daughter" properly used for livestock?

Can anyone direct me to a glossary of such terms?

Here is one: http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/livestock/sheep/facts/00-079.htm

Perhaps there is something more extensive?

Perhaps there is something for PLANTS?

How is the male parent of a rosebush described? Do we say "father," and "mother"? As these terms connote nuture, I would think not. And "sire" and "dam" seem to apply to animals.

Thanks for your replies.
