My guess is they are leafed out with no flowers yet. What I would do is plant the roots in the ground like you were planting the plant bareroot. Make sure you till up the soil nice. Add some Super Triple Phosphate and some organic matter then keep it moist. You may need to mist the leaves a few times a day in addition to keeping the soil moist to cool the leaf surface...maybe 3-4 times a day on a sunny day and maybe once to twice a day for a partly sunny day. Every couple of days try to tug the plant a little and when you start to feel lots of resistance it should be rooted. When you get some roots off the main roots you can start cutting back the misting leaves and watering.

One did have flowers, which is how I found them and knew what they were (I did cut off the flowers because I know with other plants the flowers pull alot form the plant).

Two others are the same variety with no flowers (or I assume they are since they were mixed in with those that were flowering on the same hill.

Still others have not flowered yet but look like roses although different from the others (smaller leaves).

My husband says they appear to be East Texas wild roses and they were growing in tightly packed red clay. I have got them in containers for now with Tapla's container soil mix (it is what I have on hand). Since they are in containers, I have them in a shady area to lessen their stress.

I hate for them to die, but I can get more. I would love for them to do well.
