Sick Roses

Can anybody tell me what is the matter with my roses? The buds have brown dry-paper like petals and some never fully open while other do. I have not seen any critters but have been told this is caused by trips. Any ideas as to what this is and what kind of spray or method to use to cure it?

Yeah, it does look like thrip damage. Those thrips are sly -- you can't always find them when you look. I haven't really had to deal with thrips too much, so I can't recommend a specific product. You may want to take a trip to a garden center and look for an insecticide that will control thrips.

Has it been raining there? The thin petalled roses dont like the rain. I have had goodluck with using a fungecide before it rains.
