How long to wait?

| I have 8 New Dawn cuttings that I started to root 3 weeks ago. How long should I wait before I check them for roots? They are all still green with signs of new growth.
These are my first cuttings. I used the pop bottle method and rested them under a large shrub, in mulch by my front porch. The get filterd morning sun only. The bottles are completely covered with moisture. I just don't want to disturb them.

| You can lift them up carefully and look. Don't to anything else until you see roots. Then you know they are rooted. My guess is that New Dawn should take about 6 weeks (average to fast). |

I started 8 rose cuttings back the end of May and found out they are minature roses. They have new growth on all of them and by just barely pulling on them I can tell they have roots. I am going to leave them until the root system is full in the clear milk jug that I started them in. I used the 2 liter bottle and mild jug to root them. You should try that method. If you don't know about it let me know and I will send the information to you. GOD bless you and yours and the USA while we still have one! |

Definatley let them build up some more roots before you disturb them. A little more time and maybe a little air (take off the cap for a few minutes at time and work your way clear) I am happy to hear about your success. I have a mini that has rooted well with the mason jar method (I think it would have rooted well in a sand box LOL) and I just started a HT in the soda bottle method and so far so good. Best of luck and remember patiance is a virtue. :) |
