bottle method - why keep bottles closed at night?

I have read about the different methods to root cuttings, and had hoped to setup a mist frame. Since I don't have a timer yet, I am trying the pop bottle method. My question is: must I keep the bottles closed at night? It seems like leaving them open would be beneficial to prevent fungus, and from what I've read about misting - the roses don't lose moisture at night anyway. I only have 4 cuttings, so closing up the bottles in the morning is not a problem.

Your thoughts please? Is it worth the cost of tape to give my babies fresh air?

Happy Propagating! ;-)))))
